Keeping Skin Safe this Summer
Seven ways to Protect Against Skin Cancer
Download and share our tip sheet on how to protect your skin this summer!
- Use sunscreen- but not just any. Most sunscreens on the market are filled with dangerous chemicals! Once of my favorite sunscreens is made by BeautyCounter. It spreads well and is extremely effective and because their mission is to provide safe and tested products to consumers, you can be assured it won’t be stressing out your skin further!
- Get dermatology check-ups. Get them regularly if you have a family history. The best doctors are somewhat conservative in their use of the scalpel. Keep in mind scars from tissue removal can also introduce new problems to the body!
- Avoid sunbathing. I don’t like this one because I love the sun- but limit time to 15-20 minutes of direct sunlight (with no sunscreen) to increase Vitamin D levels. Then cover up.
- Say goodbye to tanning beds. Yep you heard it (again) here. One word- radiation.
- Wear protective clothing. Cover up after 15-20 minutes of direct sunlight- especially your head and face where skin tissue is thinner.
- Use essential oils. Aloe and vitamin E oil are also nice, calming skin soothers when you get a little too much… and extra water too. Press your fingernail in the space below the nose and above the upper lip to revive someone from sun-stroke!
- Detox your liver and kidneys. These guys are helpful for the Vitamin D conversion in your body which enhances your immune system. Get acupuncture to help!
